Cast On

If you don't know how to cast-on, follow the pictures for a simple Knit-On cast-on.

Cast on 70 stitches.

1. Make a slip knot.

The slip knot is the first stitch.

2. Insert the left hand needle point into the slip knot.

3. Insert tip of right needle into the slip knot as if to knit.

4. Pass the yarn under the right needle and then between the two needle tips (just as if you were knitting.).

5. Dip the right needle down to catch the yarn but do not remove the left stitch from the needle. You will now have a stitch on the left needle and on the right needle.

6. Insert the point of the left needle into the stitch on the right needle and

slip the stitch onto the left needle. Another stitch made.

7. Insert right needle in stitch closest to the end on left needle  as if to knit,

and repeat from step 4 until you have 70 sts on the needle.

Place a marker. I use little rubber knitter markers. You can just as easily make a slip knot with a piece of scrap yarn. Cut the ends and use the scrap yarn as a marker.

Place marker.
