Knit/Slip
Recently, I knit
the Charlotte's Web Koigu Shawl. One of the stitch sequences is K2tog,
Slip 1, Pass K2tog over slipped stitch. I was half way through the shawl
before I remembered what I call the Knit Slip trick. Those knitters who
are adept at mosaic knitting and double knitting use Knit Slip without
even thinking. For the rest of us, Knit Slip is one of the wonderful
techniques that makes you wonder why you never thought of it yourself.
The technique:
Insert working needle into stitch, bring the yarn over, and on the way
out when completing the stitch catch the next stitch (the stitch to be
slipped). You have worked two stitches at one time, the knit stitch and
the slipped stitch.
The slipped stitch is caught on the downward dip of the needle as you a
pulling it out of the completed stitch.
This is a simple, common sense technique that is a great time saver!. |
