Notes on Customization:

As with any Sweater Wizard pattern, it is your yarn and your gauge. Leah used a handspun from Buckwheat Bridge. The yarn is 50% mohair and 50% wool. The gauge 5 sts/7 rws per inch.

You will note when you open the file, that the pattern is a dropped-shoulder pattern with a Mock Turtle Neck trim. The cable/braid pattern is a center panel knit only on the front of the sweater. The back is plain stockinette. The rib is 1 x 1.

Once the size and gauge are determined, the only necessary customization for 'your gauge, your yarn' is to be sure that the bottom width is adjusted to yield an odd number of body stitches.

Once the number of stitches had been generated, click the Options Menu.

Click Pattern Placement

Click Centered Pattern

Enter 37 for the cable panel.

Begin the cable pattern on the first body row, (front only).

Additional Notes:

This sweater was knit as a first sweater for a new knitter. It was also designed in pieces. When Leah finished the back, she decided that she was in control of stockinette stitch. She wanted to add something of interest to the front. I charted the braid pattern for her and then taught her how to cable without a cable needle. She finished the front in record time.

After seaming her sweater, she began the neck trim. It was at that point, she decided that she wanted a mock turtle.

We used the sweater for the cover of Sweater Wizard V3 and Stitch & Motif Maker because it represented all the best features of Sweater Wizard. We used the software each time a new idea occurred to Leah.

You can do the same thing. This pattern can be instantly changed to a set-in, or modified-drop. Again, your size, your gauge, your idea.
