Are you forever recalculating the sleeve for the sweaters you
knit. Are they too long as specified? Or too short? Or love the
pattern, but would rather have a short sleeve? Or did you really not
measure your row gauge correctly? Or, did your row gauge somehow
change? Do you want to do every shaping row on the right side? Did
you put the sleeve down for a month, and now have no idea of where
you left off?
If any of the above apply, or any of the other hundred reasons
that I thought of while developing this too, but can't remember at
the moment, then you need the Sleeve Body Wizard.
Even if you own Sweater Wizard, this is one tool you can't live
without. Of course, I feel the same way about the
Buttonhole Spacer.
The Sleeve Body Tool is a calculator for the body of the sleeve.
The body of the sleeve is that portion of the sleeve between the hem
and the widest section of the sleeve.
This tool is meant to be used when you know the number of
stitches on the needle when you start, and you know the number of
stitches you will need at the end.
For example, you are using a pattern that has a total of 60
stitches after you have completed the sleeve cuff directions. The
pattern then instructs you to increase stitches over the next 15
inches and end with 100 stitches total. However, you know that the
sleeve is going to be too short. You really want the body of the
sleeve above the cuff and before the cap (if there is one) to
measure 17.5 inches.
Use the Sleeve Body Wizard to recalculate your sleeve. You will
have beautifully even diagonal lines at each side of the sleeve, and
you will have the correct number of stitches on the needle to
complete the sleeve.
In addition each increase row is listed on a chart
with a line to check off the row, and the total stitches at the end
of that row. You will have a tool that enables you to check your
work instantly and produce identical sleeves without knitting them
at the same time.
The Sleeve Body Wizard can be used over and over again.
Should you purchase Sleeve Body Wizard, download and save to your
computer. Once you have saved the template, then open it with Adobe
Reader.
Basic Steps:
- Choose Knitting Style: Flat or Round
- Choose knitting direction of the sleeve
- Type in row gauge
- Type in the sleeve body width
- Type in the number of stitches at the wrist (above the hem)
- Type in the number of stitches at the top of the sleeve
body.
- Click Calculate
Scroll to page 2. You will see that each increase/decrease row is
listed with the stitch count beside it.
